The McElroy Sidewinder® fusion machines give you the ability to saddle fuse 4" IPS and smaller branch saddles, tapping tees and service saddle fittings onto 1¼" IPS and larger main sizes. The standard size Sidewinders are designed to fuse a full range of fittings while a more compact Sidewinder is available for tighter confines and smaller fittings.
The Sidewinder is available in two configurations and sizes. The Jaw Clamp Sidewinder is used for fusing branch saddles, tapping tees and service saddle fittings onto 1¼" to 4" IPS main sizes. The Chain Clamp Sidewinder gives you the additional ability to fuse onto main sizes larger than 4" IPS with the addition of a chain extension kit. Both are offered as either a standard machine or a compact unit for close-quarter work or when fusing smaller fittings.
Pipe type, job requirements and pipe fusion standards are all important aspects of planning a fusion job. Sidewinders allow you to choose the best gauge pressure to suit the fittings you plan to fuse. Lower pressure gauges offer small increments for a more precise pressure reading. Check with your fittings manufacturer for recommended fusion pressures.
All of the Sidewinder machines are compatible with the McElroy DataLogger, a handheld computer that records and documents the key parameters of the fusion process. These joint records are used to verify that proper fusion procedures have been followed prior to installation, which is a growing jobsite requirement. Joint records from the DataLogger can be stored and analyzed in the Vault™, a secure server on the internet. This allows quick and easy sorting, tagging and sharing of joint records by machine, joint, operator, device or job.Learn More
