McElroy Hosts Training Session for NRWA
One of the big initiatives of the NRWA since their founding in 1976 is education. Filtering through state affiliates, the NRWA and its members help train more than 100,000 people each year. With that, the public water and wastewater systems that the NRWA is affiliated with accounts for 94 percent of the public water supplies in the nation. As the event kicked off in Tulsa on Tuesday, June 12th, one NRWA official announced to the crowd that, “this week is based on the assumption that we can all do better. In-service training is a great opportunity to advance your professional career.” With that, a large portion of America's Largest Utility Membership chose to follow a learning track on high-density polyethylene (HDPE) piping. Some of the participants were new to polyethylene piping, others were experienced users of the pipe material. All were intrigued by the possibilities of a leak-free piping system in their water and wastewater systems. The NRWA In-Service Training is a great example that if you are water or wastewater professional around the world, there is a wealth of resources available to you. There are standards that have been published for fusing pipe in a certain, repeatable manner. There are experts available to answer your questions, and there are great professional organizations, like the NRWA, to help accelerate your learning. The In-Service Training segment on HDPE finished out the day at McElroy's Technical Center in Tulsa, home of McElroy University. Here, NRWA professionals got a hands on look at some of the tools that can help create a leak-free piping system in their home districts. It was a fitting place to end the day, as McElroy University has been training professionals almost as long as the NRWA. Just as the NRWA is looking to the future by offering continuous training, so is McElroy University. In the coming months, there will be new and exciting online opportunities from McElroy's learning branch. We hope you stay tuned. If you have an interest in learning more about the NRWA, McElroy University training, or just getting involved in a professional organization, we suggest visiting each organization's website to learn more. Sincerely, Tyler Henning P.S. – Do you have an interesting job site that you would like to share? McElroy is always looking for fusion job sites where HDPE is being used and fused to solve an infrastructure problem.
